Features

What APTAKE can do today.

Concrete features of the current build, in plain words. What isn’t there yet is listed separately at the bottom of the page.

Beta testing: some features are still being checked

Projects and decisions

  • Chats, files, notes and decisions for one matter, in one project
  • Project page: accepted decisions, questions that need attention, and the context available to AI
  • Continue takes you back to the last saved question, task or decision
  • My Decisions: decisions from every project, with status, date and source
  • A new version of a decision becomes current; the previous one is marked Older version
  • Pin, archive, move between projects, and restore from trash

AI

  • OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Mistral and Perplexity—each with your own API key
  • Local AI: Ollama or LM Studio on your Mac or on a computer on your network
  • Thinking Machines · Tinker—for models you fine-tuned in Tinker
  • Switch provider or model in the same chat
  • Every answer shows the provider and model
  • Web search per chat: off, or search with sources
  • Images through OpenAI, simple diagrams through the AI you choose
  • Answers in the language you choose

Privacy

  • Notes, files and saved items start as Private
  • Private items are not included in what is sent to the AI
  • The Context Inspector shows the full list of what the AI will receive
  • Project memory: facts the AI uses only with your permission
  • Lock with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode
  • API keys stay in the Apple Keychain and are left out of backups and exports

Search and offline

  • One search across projects, chats, notes, titles, file text, memory and decisions
  • Without a network, projects, files, notes, decisions and earlier answers open and can be searched
  • New AI answers, web search and images wait for a connection

Files, import, export

  • Documents, photos, audio, video and spreadsheets
  • Text from PDF, Word, HTML, Markdown, TXT and CSV
  • Import earlier conversations: HTML, Markdown, text, RTF or text PDF—they start as Private
  • Chat export: PDF, HTML, Markdown, text, RTF for Word and Pages, or a .trkchat package
  • A single-file backup—in the Files app or iCloud Drive

Input and appearance

  • Dictation instead of typing
  • Photos from the camera or library
  • Make the menu yours: choose what it shows and whether context appears under messages
  • Theme: system, light or dark; your own photo or a single color as the background
  • Standard and Paper styles, accent color and text size
  • Interface in 18 languages; language review in progress

Works with

Keep using the apps you know.

APTAKE doesn’t ask you to give up Notion, Obsidian or Apple Notes. Today, exchange works through files and the Share menu.

Works today

Obsidian

Export the chat as Markdown and save it to your vault folder through the Files app. Send a single answer through the Share menu.

Planned: one-tap sending.

Works today

Notion

Export the chat as Markdown or HTML, then choose Import in Notion on your computer or on the web.

Planned: sending directly from APTAKE.

Works today

Apple Notes, Mail, Messages

The Share menu next to any answer.

Works today

Word, Pages and cloud drives

RTF opens in Word and Pages. The Files app saves to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox.

Through a file

Conversations from other AIs

Save a conversation as HTML, Markdown, text, RTF or text PDF and import it into a project. It arrives as Private.

Planned: importing full ChatGPT and Claude account exports.

Works today

Cursor

Choose decisions, messages and notes, review the text, then copy it or save it as Markdown—for a Cursor chat or your repository. Bring the result back into the project as a source.

Manual transfer: no automatic connection yet.

“Works today” means it is in the current build. “Planned” means it is not built yet.

Honest about limits

What isn’t there yet.

  • Export to Word (.docx)—RTF opens in Word and Pages
  • Automatic sync between devices—there is a single-file backup you keep yourself
  • A spreadsheet editor—tables are available as text or Markdown
  • A built-in AI model—you need a provider key or a local server (Ollama or LM Studio)
  • Automatic connection to Cursor—transfer is manual
  • Windows and Android versions
